Fantastic Negrito shows his heart in “The Last Days of Oakland”
If you want to hear the true form of the real black music Fantastic Negrito, is the man for you. Xavier Dphrepaulezz was re borned after his car accident and one month coma, and he started living life with full lungs, making beautiful music, under the name Fantastic Negrito, promoting the darker shades of the blues. “The Last Days of Oakland” is his debut full-length album, mixed with blues, soul, and funk with modern garage rock.
“The Last Days of Oakland” has 13 great songs, every each and one of them full with a lot of emotions, which wont leave you indifferent. The album was released by Blackball Universe. “Working Poor” will pull you away in a different world with the catchy guitar riff and twisted refrain, you will see the real side of the struggle of the working class. “About A Bird” is a jazzy balad that deserves to be heard and enjoyed at. “Lost in a Crowd” is Fantastic Negritos gem, that made him win the NPR’s Tiny Desk Contest last year. Also “In the Pines” presents a need for change, something new in the folk standards, and this is shown by a tragedy.
All of the songs in “The Last Days of Oakland,” are a tribute to the ordinary people, for the hard working class people. They deserve it, not only for the hard path they were put on in the past, but also for the hard paths to come. Fantastic Negrito brings something forgotten, and he brings it on the best way.
